Art.
Art is just a word, but it can mean so much more than that. It allows you freedom to do whatever you want that comes to mind. I continue to make art each year because I like to express emotions of happiness through my artwork to others as well as being able to simply relax. Art can be a lifelong challenge and puzzle, anyone can put the pieces together in a different way. That is what's great about art, it expresses peoples minds and ideas in a way so that other people have to try to figure out the meaning behind the artwork. There is never a wrong answer. It is okay to get lost in the moment while creating art, sometimes it turns out even better than you even imagined. Art can change the way you think about the world and allow you to view things in your own creative way. There will always be endless ideas out there, you just need to let your imagination run wild and your thoughts be free.
When making decisions in the course of my work/project, I usually go with my instinct in what I think will look best and what will give it that "wow" factor. I try to think of how the audience will interpret my work and if I don't think it's satisfying enough, I just push myself to work harder. The majority of my work has a theme of using either micro pens over acrylic paint, some sort of zentangle design with sharpie/micro pens, or just plain acrylic paint for nature themes. I have created numerous projects with a wide variety of medias and topics as well. The themes I usually go with resemble what I enjoy doing most because it makes me want to take my time on small details to make it the best it can be. A common goal of mine is to simply make people smile or be happy when looking at my work.
The work that I currently work on is exploring with different materials to create a texture. This type of work is pleasing to the eye and creates attention to it. People generally enjoy viewing art that has texture because its not one of the most used elements they usually see. One of our senses, touch, can be used to feel these kind of textures and that can add to someone's pleasure in viewing certain artwork if they are allowed to. I also like to create small designs that are emphasized by various colors and textures in the background, which is where I started exploring a little more with acrylic mediums (ceiling tile in portfolio).
